Chief Legal Officer
Jan Sbarbaro is an accomplished healthcare and technology attorney with a distinguished record of legal, compliance, and governance leadership across global healthcare, health technology, and information services organizations. Ms. Sbarbaro serves as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Lyric and also holds the roles of Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer. She leads the company's legal, compliance, and privacy organizations and serves as principal legal advisor to Lyric’s Board of Directors and the executive team on regulatory, compliance, and governance matters enterprise-wide.
Ms. Sbarbaro brings more than 30 years of legal expertise in healthcare and health technology, with deep command of the regulatory, privacy, and data governance requirements that govern health plans and the technology partners that serve them. She built Lyric's legal, compliance, and privacy function from the ground up following the company's divestiture from UnitedHealth Group's acquisition of Change Healthcare in October 2022, establishing its corporate governance program, risk, regulatory and privacy frameworks, compliance policies and code of conduct, and its Data and AI Governance model. She has since built and leads a team of legal and compliance professionals supporting a company of more than 700 employees serving more than 100 health plan clients.
Ms. Sbarbaro is recognized across the healthcare industry for leading legal and compliance teams through major organizational transformations, guiding companies through high-profile investigations and regulatory matters, and helping establish industry initiatives that advance the safe and lawful exchange of healthcare data. A patient and collaborative leader, she is known for building dedicated teams and creating clear, practical solutions to complex challenges.
Ms. Sbarbaro began her career with a clerkship for the Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court, followed by several years as a litigation associate at Morrison & Foerster. She went on to hold senior legal leadership roles at Change Healthcare, McKesson Corporation, and Thomson Reuters before joining Lyric. She holds a JD and an MBA from the University of Denver and an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa.
