More than 35 Years of Healthcare Innovation
We engineer for what comes next.
We deliver for our clients today.
And we have never stopped building toward a healthcare system that runs on trust, truth, and transparency.
Why We Built Lyric
01. Our Conviction
Healthcare runs on a latticework of rules, regulations, laws, and protocols. It changes daily and lands differently on health plans, their network providers, and the patients they serve. We have worked inside it since 1989.
We saw what it costs when a decision cannot be traced. Coverage questions that reopen, coding that does not hold, appeals and disputes that run for months because nobody can show how a decision was reached. Errors become rework and disputes become cost, and none of it is care.02. Our People
Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and certified coders, working alongside our engineers.
Our people know why a code is wrong, which policy governs the edge case, and what the documentation has to show. They know when a rule applies and when the circumstances make it the wrong call. That is not information. It is judgment, built over years of real cases, and it is the part of this work no system will ever hold on its own. We have never believed otherwise, and we have never built as though we did.03. Healthcare Decision Intelligence
That expertise belongs inside the technology, not alongside it.
We built healthcare decision intelligence to augment human decision-making. What our clinicians, coders, and policy experts know sits inside the system, and recommendations carry the policy, the data, and the reasoning behind them. Human review is part of how it works, and clients decide with the full basis in front of them.04. What Is Possible
Decisions that are accurate, backed by evidence, and open to anyone they affect.
Healthcare has never had that at scale. It is what the next decade of this work is for. A system that gets the answer right the first time, shows how it got there, and spends what it saves on the people waiting rather than on the argument.
What We Do
Healthcare runs on high-stakes decisions that have to be right, made faster than anyone can verify them by hand. Our clients answer for them. They need the evidence behind them, the expertise on them, and a record of how they were reached. The system reads what no team could read. Answers arrive in milliseconds with the evidence attached.

A word from Halsey Wise / CEO & Board member
"Every day, we work to make healthcare better for humankind. What we want is a healthcare system that does not have to ask for anyone's faith. A system where a decision lineage comes with everything behind it, where the argument never has to start, and where the resources healthcare spends defending its own decisions instead go to the people waiting for care. That is what healthcare decision intelligence is for, and we are building this future."Healthcare Decision Intelligence & AI

Our History
We started with claims editing
We built healthcare decision intelligence
Lyric42 launches in June 2024 as the healthcare decision intelligence platform, reconciling every signal on a claim into one recommendation in milliseconds.
ClaimShark follows in 2025, adding claims audit and post-payment review through its Virtuoso and Replay products.
Concert arrives in 2026, bringing structured clinical and coverage policy that systems can read and execute, and Lyric moves its headquarters to Nashville the same year.
The ClaimsXten Portfolio company renames itself as Lyric. Lyric is the same continuous business that launched ClaimCheck in 1989, operating under GMIS, HBOC, McKesson, Change Healthcare, and TPG ownership before taking its current name. The technology, the clients, and the record carry forward intact. The company held its headquarters in Philadelphia until August of 2026.
The ClaimsXten product is a key part of Change Healthcare's portfolio in 2017. In October 2022, United Health divested the ClaimsXten business. Backed TPG, the ClaimsXten business operates independently for the first time since 1989. That independent company renames itself as Lyric five months later.
The technology joins HBOC in 1996, then McKesson in 1998. In 2005 McKesson acquires Intelliclaim and rebrands the product ClaimsXten, the cornerstone of its payment accuracy business. ClaimsXten is the direct predecessor of the Lyric platform.
Lyric traces to 1989, when GMIS launched ClaimCheck, the first commercial claim editing product. Payment accuracy becomes a category. GMIS acquires Code Review the following year and expands into full payment integrity.
How we operate
Six values, THRIVE is the standard every Lyric team works to, from the engineer writing an edit to the nurse reviewing a claim.
Teamwork
We work as one Lyric team toward shared outcomes. Clinical, coding, and engineering sit in the same problem until it is solved.
Honesty & Ethics
We act honestly and fairly, without compromise. We do what is right, even when it is not easy.
Recognition & Celebration
We recognize progress and celebrate the work that moves Lyric forward. Credit goes to the people who did it.
Innovation
We challenge the status quo to improve how we work and what we deliver. Thirty-five years of accuracy is our foundation, not our ceiling.
Value Clients & Colleagues
We put clients and colleagues at the center of every decision. Trust is earned through every action, and we protect it the way we built it.
Execute
We deliver results with urgency, quality, and discipline. Health plans process claims every day, so our work ships on their clock.

Healthcare decisions get made every day with incomplete information. We build the intelligence that closes that gap and the rationale that makes each decision explainable. Our clients decide. Clinicians, certified coders, engineers, and analysts.
